Weekend Wrap Up

Another weekend is almost over, the last weekend before Christmas. I spent my time working on a new project for myself, op shopping, catching up on my Frankie subscription and watching episodes of one of my new favourite shows. I also squeezed in some fruit buying, dinner with friends and the exchange of Christmas gifts with Grant.

It was a chilled out weekend, a nice break from the busy last few weeks. The next week and a half also promises to be busy and stressful as Christmas approaches.

A busy weekend indeed.

It was a very busy weekend that has just passed. Finishing off my last assessment (yay), an awesome 21st and a quick road trip to Port Macquarie and back in less than two days! We took Mum out for birthday dinner on Sunday night and then came back to Newcastle this morning.

These photos were taken on the drive up north. If only I had my camera out to catch the pelting ran, green sky and almost hail that was on Sunday afternoon!

Weekend Wrap Up.

This is a late weekend wrap up..but my weekend only *technically* ended this morning when I left my family and travelled back to Newcastle. I am on a mid semester recess for two weeks so I had an extended weekend with the family.

We had a 'working bee' at my sister's house to paint some of her rooms. I didn't get too many photos because I was helping paint (duh). But here is another GIF of my dad painting one of the walls.

I also hit up my favourite op shop and walked away with more than I was expecting. A whole heap of new pretty fabrics, two patterns, a quilting book, handbag handles and a very pretty new jar.

Other things that happened on the weekend included learning to make jam in the microwave with Mum, playing with Dudley and the kittens, and showing my new tattoos to my parents (eek!)

The next few days are going to be very busy, busy! I am reopening the shop today and I have HEAPS of new things planned and cut out ready for me to sew.

New Zealand Part Two.

Sorry for so many photos! There was just so many good things (and a lot of photos I didn't share too). Overall New Zealand was amazing to look at, so much yummy food and very, very exciting!

I hope you liked my mini photo trip to New Zealand!

New Zealand Part One

I've decided to break down my New Zealand post into two parts, so there isn't an overload of photos! As you might be able to see above, I had a super-duper amazing time in New Zealand! We got to do so many things, and the trip went so fast. A week was definitely not enough time to do everything and anything that I wanted too.

Queenstown was a fantastic place. Our hostel was right in the middle of everything and we walked most places we went to. I would go back in a heartbeat (not to be a cliché or anything). We flew out on the Saturday morning, and by the time we reached Christchurch airport, the Queenstown airport was closed from snow and bad weather. If only we had an afternoon flight, we would have gotten to stay longer. Hehe.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect actually. The first part of the week was sunny and beautiful and the second part was rainy (snowing in the mountains). Adjusting to the cold was easier than I expected, it took me a few days before I realised how much a hat keeps you warmer. I wore my panda bear hat that I bought from the lovely Rachael from Talk2TheTrees while I was on holidays too! I hope the weather gets a tad colder in Newcastle now so I can wear it again!

New Zealand part two will be coming up shortly!

Hello Again!

I'm back from my holiday! After almost 12 hours of travel I was back to my own home. It's only a 3 hour flight from Christchurch to Sydney, but the waiting around for other planes, going through security and finally the drive from Sydney back to Newcastle do add up! The main thing is I'm back, safe, happy and no one hurt themselves skiing in my group. Yay!

I'm finally caught up with everything that happened in Internet land while I was away, blogs and all. Now it's time for me to sew, something that I haven't done for ageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees (it feels like). And then maybe I might crack the camera open and wade through the photos that I took on the trip.

Monthly Book Round Up.

Another month has flown by, and my reading list has been looking very sad. This month I only managed to finish one book. ONE. I think I even started it last month too!

I really don't have an excuse! I should have been reading more too, because it has been holidays for me this month. My bookshelf has been looking a tad sad too, either I need to join the library (which I still haven't done, I've been living in this area for more than 2 years now.) Or find some extra money to buy new books. Rereading books is nice, but when you are constantly reading the same books over again it gets boring

So this month I read Pride and Prejudice and I really enjoyed it!

In other news, this weekend I will be leaving for a week in New Zealand with the family. I will be putting my Etsy shop on vacation while I'm away. Inspiration Friday updates will still be posted, but other than that my blog will be pretty quiet while I'm away.

I have my DSLR all charged and I'm prepped to take heaps of photos. This is going to be an awesome trip!

The first couple of days of being on holidays.

Being on holidays is awesome! I've really been enjoying doing something because I want to, not because I have to! That being said, I still set myself little deadlines and weekly goals I want to do. The goals for this week are to finish off some bags I have been working on and list them in the shop, finish my bunting that I started (and put aside to finish another time) and spend some time cleaning the garden out. This one has been hard, its been very windy at my house and the other day it was only 14 degrees! Too cold to spend time outside!

I have some pictures to share of what I've been doing.

Packaged and mailed out an order with my new wrapping paper.

I made a massive mess which I still haven't cleaned up.

I bought a new iron! Finally! And she came pre-named "Stella"

Painted my nails from a tutorial of Hello Giggles. It didn't turn out exactly the same, but I still like it!

I also changed my pinboard decorations. Now it's more 'streamlined' with black and white and some colour. And its got a cool typewriter font that I downloaded from Dafont

Now, I'm going to spend the rest of the day knocking of items on my to-do-list including finishing off my Inspiration Friday post!  And looking outside to the sunny, sunny day that is to cold to go outside.
