Weekend Wrap Up.

This past weekend I:
Finished cutting out my pieces for my quilt.
Organised them into their squares and patterns.
And sewed them up!
I got some uni work done.

And played with this guy!
Organised some things for Everyday Mae, printed out labels, ordered some new supplies, etc.
And spent some time working on a few super cute custom orders!

It has been such fantastic weather in Newcastle the past weekend! It so warm outside, and mostly it doesn't feel like winter. The only shame is that the house is still cold, and I can't possible do my sewing outside in the sun. I took a break from my sewing machine last night so Grant and I could go to a friends BBQ. Sadly I didn't get any photos either!

I'm so happy that I was able to finish my quilt squares in such short time! Now it's my aim to have them all connected before I visit my parents next time so I can show it to Mum for inspection. I have some more photos of my finished quilt squares but I am going to break them up into another post so it isn't so photo heavy!

My Monday

This says 'wall 2cm over boundary'.

Here are some quick pictures that I took on Monday. It was the first day back to uni, and we had a site visit! Our site is right in the city, and infill site (as they are called) and we are do design an Art + Design gallery. Exciting! (and scary!)

Weekend Wrap Up.

My weekend was...pretty cool! I went home to mum and dads for a birthday party for an old friend. I managed to squeeze in some beach viewing, playing with animals time and a small spot of fabric shopping.

Massive swells, rain clouds and spray
Playing with this guy. Who really loves...
This guy!
Nawww
Putting on my falsies!
Birthday party for an old friend. Brooke went as a happy housewife and I (kind of) went as a vintage inspired girl, with my handmade dress and flowers in hair.

I also totally ruined the photo orientation too.

Inspiration Friday

Now this Inspiration Friday post is a little different. Sadly, I didn't find these images on Etsy (there are other websites too!) Now, if you have seen some of my pictures lately, you would know that I have relatively long hair. And the last few weeks I have gotten to the stage that I want to cut it off again to something more manageable. This seems to be a continuous cycle for me, and usually as soon as I cut it I want it long again! Go figure.

So I have been looking at cool pictures of long hair, and experimenting with rag rolling, blowing dry, etc to change up the look. Here are some of my favourite images.

Now I did have a bit of a silly moment and kind of, didn't really understand on Pinterest where the source information was? I have just tried to link them back when I can, if I've done it wrong and you know better can you let me know??! Also, anyone want to invite me to Pinterest?

=)

Happy Friday!

Introducing: The Mae Bag!

I thought it about time that I wrote a post about my new bag designs...considering that I listed them in the shop on Saturday! I have been working very hard on personal projects the last two days and truthfully I haven't managed to do much Everyday Mae stuff.

So the designs that I have been working on in the last few weeks have evolved into a mostly consistent look-a roomy shoulder bag with decorative pleats that has an adjustable strap for easy converting between handbag and shoulder bag.

I decided to call this design 'The Mae Bag', as sort of a namesake design. I have one of the original Mae bag designs, and I have used it every day since I finished it (almost 30+ days!)

The Mae Bag contains a handy inside pocket that has been divided into three sections: a pen/pencil holder, phone holder and a spare for keys, Ipod, etc.

The Mae Bags are made from sturdy materials such as cotton canvas, cotton drill and decor weight cotton in bright colours and patterns! I love colour, and like to use it a lot in my designs. I am currently working on some more Mae Bag colour/pattern combinations.

I want to thank Grant again for helping me photograph these bags. He is the hand that you can see in the photographs.

Weekend Wrap Up.

This past weekend I:

Made a really quick high-waisted ruffle skirt! (Ignore the terrible photo. I am bad at outfit shots!)

Cut out some more pieces for my first quilt project. I bought these super awesome vintage fat quarters from this shop here.

I also (almost) finished off this dress! I decided to do bias binding around the neckline and arm holes and I was happy with how it turned out, considering I haven't done that before.

A quick visit to the fabric shop today. I got these fabrics, some of which are going to go into my quilt project.

I also started working on my next dress. This is going to be a different design to the last two I've made. I am hoping to get the majority of the sewing finished tomorrow, I am planning on wearing this dress next weekend! Eekk.

I finished off and listed four new bags in the shop over the weekend (I will talk about these in a later post!) Thanks goes to Grant who provided the hand that you can see in the pictures.

I love the look of curls, and so when I found this blog post I knew that I would have to try it out. I left the rags in for longer to make sure my hair was completely dry. When I took them out I had really, really tight ringlets! You can kind of see the result in the first picture. Definitely be doing that again!

That about sums up my weekend!
