Quick Quilt Update!

My pretty quilt is coming along! All my rows are now connected, I just need to add the sash around the edges and then the top will be done!

Uni work & Gifts!

It’s full steam ahead for uni this week with a small submission due tomorrow morning. I’ve spent some time yesterday afternoon and today finishing off my presentation drawings. Here’s a quick photo of what my desk looked like while I was working on it.

I could have really gotten out my drawing board, and so I wouldn’t have had to swish everything onto my desk, buuuuuuuut it’s all the way stacked under my bed, and therefore it would have been a bit of a hassle.

Also, I got a surprise gift from Grant’s parents today:

How cute are they? I actually needed new socks, so why not have ones with cute cupcakes and teapots? I don’t think I will use these tissues either, so I can keep them in their pretty packaging!

Weekend Wrap Up.

How cool is my collage? It's a pretty good way to show lots of my pictures from the weekend, but it only equates to one picture upload. Score! Anyways, the weekend for me was pretty awesome.

I got to visit The Olive Tree Markets with some girlfriends (and bought the yummy jam and new sunnies!) and was then inspired to make Dutch pancakes when I got home, with my own Dutch pancake maker.

Unexpectedly, I also worked on some new pretty bags for the shop. When I say unexpectedly I mean that I started these bags and then proceeded to work on autopilot until I had a mostly finished bag. It was in this process that I majorly bent my needle (see pic above). This will be now known as ‘Extreme Sewing’.

In addition to this, I got some uni work done for next week back at uni. I got to use my favourite pencil (I’m not really sure why it’s my favourite?) and while I think it's quite normal to use it until it becomes physically impossible, when its put it next to an unsharpened one you can really see how much I use it! That's how much I love this pencil!

Oh and I also cut my fringe a la Zooey Deschanel style. I'm sure completely sure if 1. I like it and 2. If it suits me? I think I just need to get used to it. Ignore the fact that I have funny, lack of make up eyes in the picture too.

First Quilt Update.

As mentioned before, here are the rest of the pictures of the finished squares of my first quilt! It is only a small collection of them, because there is actually 49 of those bad boys! I thought it would be more of a pain than it actually was to make them up.

Originally the quilt was suppose to be a combination of my two favourite colours, green and yellow (not Australian or anything!) but other colours kept creeping in and now its a sort of mash of colours. But that's fine, I love colour!

I am really looking forward to finishing this quilt and being able to look at it everyday when it's on my bed! =)

Monthly book round up.

This month was marginally better than last month for reading. I managed to finish two books this month, which seems to be about my average. I was really hoping to get at least three finished, which is a shame. For August I am going to try and increase to reading three books a month. That's the plan.

One of the things in the back of my mind that I have been wanting to do was buy some Penguin Books. I see them everywhere, and I either don't have the money or I'm on my way somewhere. So when I found a stand of them at the airport in Queenstown I took my time to poke through and find some. This was one that I bought and I read the majority of it on the plane back to Australia. I really liked reading this.

My sister loaned me this one and even though I did finish it in about four days, the ending wasn't what I was expecting. I still enjoyed it though!

On that note, I better go and read now, so I can hope to finish three books this month!

=)

Weekend Wrap Up.

This past weekend I:
Finished cutting out my pieces for my quilt.
Organised them into their squares and patterns.
And sewed them up!
I got some uni work done.

And played with this guy!
Organised some things for Everyday Mae, printed out labels, ordered some new supplies, etc.
And spent some time working on a few super cute custom orders!

It has been such fantastic weather in Newcastle the past weekend! It so warm outside, and mostly it doesn't feel like winter. The only shame is that the house is still cold, and I can't possible do my sewing outside in the sun. I took a break from my sewing machine last night so Grant and I could go to a friends BBQ. Sadly I didn't get any photos either!

I'm so happy that I was able to finish my quilt squares in such short time! Now it's my aim to have them all connected before I visit my parents next time so I can show it to Mum for inspection. I have some more photos of my finished quilt squares but I am going to break them up into another post so it isn't so photo heavy!
