Everyday Mae progress

Slowly but surely I have been making some progress with sewing for Everyday Mae. I have been spurred along by the recent purchases in my shop, I feel it is rather empty now and I am trying to get into action to get some new stock in.

I have recently bought a stack of new fabrics and I spent my public holiday working on some new bags. I also have many half finished and waiting for some more spare time to finish them off. I am hoping to have some done to add to the shop on the weekend.

Weekend Photos

I finally charged my DSLR and took some photos over the weekend. It was a great weekend too, the sun was shining and the weather was lovely and warm.  

I spent some time sewing, more time then I actually anticipated. I managed to finish the above bunny that I started a week or so ago. I embroidered his face by hand and I'm happy the way he turned out!

I also started and finished a new dress in some fabric that I have had for awhile in a lovely blue pattern. Some new fabric might have made it's way into my collection (!) I'm still undecided as to what I am going to make with them.

My new print from Yellena James finally found a space in my bedroom also. I have had it for a month or so now but I couldn't find a great spot for it. I'm so glad I bought it, but now I have since hung the clipboard on my wall.

In all honesty...

To be completely honest, I haven't touched my sewing machine in a little over...a month. It saddens me to say that, sewing is and was such a large part of my life not that long ago. I am still trying to figure out where it fits in in my present life as not much free time isn't very conductive to creative time. 

I spent my weekend just past with friends and loved ones, relaxing from a full on week and enjoying the weekend like most other people that work Monday to Friday. A part of me wished to spent some time sewing but two days really evaporates quickly when you try and cram so much into them. I think the main thing is that I still want to sew, right?

Weekend Photos

Things that were good about this weekend:

-Walking along the beach and missing the rain

-Digging through my half finished bin of projects

-Working with scrap leather in some new ideas

-Exploring back streets and looking at cool terrace houses

-Spending time working on some exciting things!

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend I

-Spent some time designing and sewing. So many projects to work on, so little time!

-Made a yummy chicken salad and some mini toasted muesli muffins

-Wore a maxi skirt and boots at least twice! Definitely getting colder now.

-Spent some time working with some favourite materials. I am hoping to finish some new bags for the shop this week but I do have a few other things to do so that might be a tad optimistic!

Simple Heart DIY

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3! Simply cut the hearts (or any other shape you wish), sew in desired pattern and hang as you wish. Perfect for prettying up rooms and bring a smile to your face! I am planning to make a few more of these in different hanging patterns for different parts of the house.

Motivation has returned and if finished off some new bags for the shop! I'm currently working on some new ideas that I am excited about. My fabric has been reorganised and I can see all of it now which is making me want to sew, sew, sew!

Weekend + Studio Peeks

This weekend I:

-Spent time in the sun with my legs uncovered, possibly for the last time before winter. It has been very cold since then and now I'm all rugged up!

-Socialised with friends and went out for lunches and dinners.

-Exchanged some more music which I'm excited to start listening too!

-Seriously cleaned/tidied and organised my studio and sewing spaces as well as the rest of the house in preparation of our first house inspection.

-Took some photographs to share my studio space. It's no where near finished, there is still some things I would like to add and change, but I like where it is at now. Enjoy the photos!

Some photos from the weekend

Gosh, weekends are just flying past these days! I feel like I spent all my time working and I have no interesting photos to show for it...BUT I did manage to make myself a new bag which has already gone on a few outings with myself. The weather was nice too, except now it is getting darker earlier and this has thrown my body clock all out of whack. Waking up at 5.30 every morning without an alarm? No thanks. 

This upcoming weekend already is going to be more exciting. I am road tripping it home to spend Easter with my family and catch up with everyone. I think it has been almost if not more than six weeks since I have been home. It will be good!

Fabric Swap

I participated in a lovely vintage fabric swap hosted by Green Tea and Red Nails. It was such a great idea and I am loving all the fabric that I received back! Some has already been used but there is a few that I will be keeping for myself to use in yet unknown crafty projects!

Meet Elna...

Meet Elna, my brand new overlocker! I was planning on saving for a bit before I bought one but due to circumstances out of my control I needed one ASAP. I spent a large portion of my weekend setting it up, threading, rethreading and some more rethreading. I am now overlocking everything in sight! In other news, I attempted this tutorial on my hair with blue chalk this weekend. The results were okay, the colour wasn't as vibrant and the staying power wasn't the best. The chalk did give my shirt a nice dusting though! Next time I will buy a softer chalk, or resort to my old teenager favourite of coloured food dye for an instant hair colour.

Happy Birthday Everyday Mae!

I thought it would be very appropriate to look back over the year that was Everyday Mae. Here are some photos on work that I have created over this past year. 

This year has been super duper awesome! I really tried hard to put myself out there and do tons of things out of my comfort zone. I'm happy with what I achieved and want to thank everyone.
